Between 80% and 85% of those who have this operation, experience
immediate and lasting pain relief. In the majority of the remainder, the pain
is improved.
In some patients, complete pain relief is not possible although
significant benefit can be experienced, making the operation worthwhile. If
this is the case, the patient is advised beforehand.
