IF YOUR HAIR IS DRY

1. Brush frequently to stimulate oil flow and to distribute
the oil from your scalp to the ends of your hair. Aim for about 75
brushstrokes in the morning and 75 brushstrokes at night.
2. Use a mild shampoo once or twice a week. You might use
castile shampoo, egg shampoo or any natural soap that is labeled
“for dry hair.”
3. Lather and rinse only once. Your hair is already too dry
and a second shampoo would only wash out more oil.
4. Massage your scalp to stimulate sluggish oil glands. Place
your fingertips firmly against your scalp. Rotate them gently so that
you feel your scalp moving slightly. Be careful not to rub too hard,
because the friction may cause hair loss. Keep moving your finger-
tips until you’ve covered your entire head. Repeat the massage twice
a day for about five minutes.
5. Treat your dry hair to the time-tested hot oil remedy.
It’s simple but very effective. Warm about half a cup of olive oil
and use cotton pads to dab it all over your scalp. Now wrap your
head in one or two hot hand or dish towels. (You can warm towels
by dipping in hot water and wringing them out or by wrapping them
dry around your head and warming them under a hair dryer turned
on low.) Keep your head wrapped in the hot towels for about 15
minutes. Then remove towels and shampoo as usual. This hot oil
remedy, repeated three times a week, helps moisturize your dry hair
and scalp.
6. Protect your hair against the drying, bleaching effect of
the sun and wind. Always wear a scarf or hat when outdoors in the
sun. If you’ve been swimming in salt water or a chlorinated swim-
ming pool, be sure to rinse your hair well under a shower. Salt has a
corrosive action on the hair; chlorine is a bleach that can cause drab
or brittle hair.                                                                                                                                                            With improved skin and hair enzyme nourishment, basic
home care, you can help rejuvenate your body envelope and boost
growth of your scalp tresses.
