What causes hyperlipidaemia?

Hyperlipidaemia results from an imbalance between the rate at which
lipids enter the blood and the rate at which they are removed. Input is
determined by the amounts produced in the liver and the amounts absorbed
from the diet via the intestine. Cholesterol input is increased in people who
are overweight or who eat a lot of saturated fat and cholesterol in their diet.
Triglyceride production is increased by taking in more calories than needed,
especially when these are derived from alcohol.CICIH) nisiosqui
Although triglycerides do not contribute directly to the atherosclerotic
process yet they do so indirectly, by influencing blood clotting. The
tendency of blood to clot is increased in hypertriglyceridaemic individuals
and this can result in the sudden and complete blockage (thrombosis) of an
artery already narrowed by atherosclerosis, with serious consequences.
Removal of cholesterol and triglyceride from the blood depends upon
several factors, including one’s genetic make-up, hormonal factors and
life-style. In general those who eat sensibly and who are physically active
clear lipids from their blood faster than do sedentary individuals.                                                                  Furthermore the balance between HDL and LDL is favourably influenced by
certain types of aerobic exercise, such as jogging, cross-country skiing and
probably bicycling.
