What is Work and leisure

Returing to work after a stroke is usually easier for someone who has a                                                      desk job than for someone doing manual work where a defective arm and  difficulty                               with walking and blance will be more of a handicap. But perceptual problems,                                        inability to concenrate and poor memory will also make employment difficult.                                             The best option is to try to return to former job, perhaps slightly adapted to                                        changed abilities. The next option is to return to the same firm doing a differnt types                             of work. A former employer is much more likely to show consideration than a new                                 employer with no personal interest. The third option is to go to the local Job Centre                              to find out what is avaible. Disablement Resettlement Officers (DROs) have special                              responsibility for advising and placing disable people in jobs. To gain full benefit from                          the various schemes available it usually necessary to be put on the Disable Persons,Register.              These schemes may include sheltered employment suitable for someone with limited work capacity, financial incentives for prospective employers, assistance with the cost of getting to work and adaptation to make one-handed work possible.
