Problem: From early spring until the first frost in autumn,
about one in fifteen persons suffers from what is called hay fever.
Depending upon the section of the country, hay fever comes with
amazing regularity. Symptoms include: spasms of sneezing, stuffed-
up, runny and itchy nose, itchy and swollen eyes; there is itching
and mucus in the throat. Caution: neglected hay fever becomes
worse as the years go on and may then develop into asthma. That
is why it should be overcome as early as possible.
The term hay fever, by the way, is a misnomer. It is not
caused by hay. It is not associated with fever. The correct name
should be seasonal allergic rhinitis. But it is commonly called hay
fever so we refer to it as such.
