The word “migraine” comes from the Greek word hemi-
krania, meaning “half the skull.” This appears logical since this type
of headache is often confined to just one side of the head. A typical
migraine consists of prodromal (early) symptoms. These include
flashing lights or flickering vision to be followed by a starter of a the same location but may change its area in the head. Often, i
throbbing or pulsating headache. The throbbing pain is usually in
cause flinching. Normal sounds seem too loud. There is a torturous
vision and drooping eyelid may be noticed. Normally bright lights
may radiate out of the eye. Nausea along with “blind spots.” double
ache on the affected side of the head. The migraine headache may
endure for as long as 48 hours…even longer, without relief.
