Dr. Bingham reports that enzymes in fresh foods are the
powerhouses that set off a biological chain reaction to induce healing.
It is important to preserve the natural food intact, including
proteins and amino acids which have not been damaged by heat;
natural hormones and enzymes which have not been altered by
cooking, drying, storage or preservation, and vitamins in the highest
biological efficiency. He says –
“The foods must be as fresh and ripe as possible for powerful
enzyme content, grown by organic methods, free of residues of
poisonous pesticides and fertilizers and delivered and prepared in
as natural and palatable a form as possible.”
Basic Body Improvement Programs. Dr. Bingham believes
in a more holistic or “total health” approach in using enzymes for
correction of metabolic errors. He feels that enzymes can promote
more effective healing with these programs in daily living. Lots of
fresh fruits and vegetables eaten every single day. Raw or pasteur-
ized milk, butter, eggs, fish, cheese, meats, nuts, whole grains and
seeds. Lots of bed rest. Comfortably warm mineral baths are also
soothing.
Relax and Give Enzymes a Chance to Work. A fully relaxed
body will enable enzymes to work more effectively. Dr. Bingham
notes that many arthritics are also tense and this means their enzymes
are unable to perform in a calm and orderly manner. This creates
the biological error involved in metabolic defects of arthritis.
Symptoms Noted: “Nutritionists know that nervous and
mental and emotional stress interfere with appetite, digestion,
enzymatic absorption of food, choices of food, nutritional habits and
dietary patterns,” says Dr. Bingham.
“Emotional stress exerts a control on the glands of internal
secretion, particularly the thyroid, adrenals and pituitary and they
play an important role in bone and joint metabolism.”
“Naturally, any disturbance in the nervous and emotional
function of a person produces biological changes which can affect
the bones or joints.” It is this enzymatic “congestion” brought about
